


These iron sights are not 3D models like in more recent games, but rather a silhouette of the weapon's sights superimposed over the screen when the player toggles the sights.


In 2011, Operation Flashpoint was renamed and re-released by BIS as ARMA: Cold War Assault. In 2005, Operation Flashpoint was re-made slightly for Xbox as Operation Flashpoint: Elite, on an early version of the ArmA: Armed Assault Engine, this version boasted higher quality models made for the port for characters and some of the weapons as well as gameplay enhancements such as leaning however this version suffered from a low draw distance and framerate issues. Codemasters developed their own sequels with the Operation Flashpoint name, consisting of Operation Flashpoint: Dragon Rising and Operation Flashpoint: Red River. The sequels developed by Bohemia Interactive Studios are known as ArmA, officially spiritual successors to Operation Flashpoint. Operation Flashpoint spawned two distinct sequel series, as a result of the game's developer (Bohemia Interactive Studios) and publisher (Codemasters) parting ways, retaining the engine and the name respectively. Set in 1985, the plot involves a fictional conflict between United States and Soviet military forces in an Eastern European island chain. Operation Flashpoint: Cold War Crisis is a tactical shooter released in 2001.
